The Bok Tower Gardens were first opened in 1929 and are a product of two men, Edward Bok, a pultizer winning writer, and Fedrick Law Olmstead Jr. The gardens were part of Edward Bok's winter estate. The carillion tower and gardens are on one of the highest hills in Florida (298 feet high). Today the gardens  have expanded to include Bok's Pinewood Estate, a visitor center and cafe, and a 3 mile long nature trail. The Carillion tower is home to an archive and a carillion library as well as 60 bells that are played each day on the hour and for two longer concerts.
